The poll has been edited

Sorry to all of you who already voted, but we missed a name that must be thrown into this argument, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You must consider the all time NBA leading scorer in this argument. Again please accept our humble apologies. If you voted before Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was an option you need to vote again.

  1. Alright guys Kobe is by far the best player of all time. Now don't get me wrong Magic Johnson was good and Jordan was nearly so but you simply must admit that Kobe is the best. Now if you look at the numbers it will certainly appear that Michael Jordan was better than Kobe but one must take into account that today there are more good players than back in the day. Kobe has much tougher competition. Also i couldn't help but notice you omitted to put Kobe on the poll regardless of the fact his numbers are better than any of the other players in the poll with the exception of Michael Jordan.I believe this demonstrates a clear bias on your part similar to your extended families unfounded infatuation with the Huskys. However it is your blogg so you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

  2. Does fashion count? I wore Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's shoes once. Don't have any other opinions on this poll.

  3. How can you say that Kobe is the best of all time when he is not even done playing basketball yet? I would definently have to go with Michael Jordon as the best player. Someone that I think will be considered better than Kobe when he retires is LeBron James. How about them apples:)

  5. I voted for Michael Jordan because Eli and Stan can't both be wrong.

  6. Best basketball player? Michael Jordan, definitely. He changed the game in so many ways, and took basketball fans where they'd never been before -- dunkfests, two three-peats, NIKE sponsorships, the tongue, etc. He could - and did - singlehandedly cut the heart out of several teams (Knicks, Cavaliers, etc). There were plenty of good players in the 90's. Kobe's definitely top-5, but he's not Michael. Someone wrote last summer that the Lakers modified the triangle offense to be the rectangle offense -- four guys standing around watching Kobe shoot. It's entirely safe to say that Michael transcended the sport; I don't think Kobe has done that yet. Years ago, the luminescent words on Michael's bright red Ferrari Testarossa read "M AIR J". That says it for me.
